Quarq Power Meter

quarq_sram_red_22_2Quarq was developed by Jim and Mieke Meyer in 2006‑7, motivated by a personal interest in affordable high performance power meters, with a release on the market as soon as 2008.

The measuring principle is similar to that of SRM power meters, reading the force applied to the crank spider (chainset). A true innovation of this device is the tool-free battery replacement. In addition, the Quarq power meter was one of the first power meters with ANT+ wireless communication, which has in the meantime became the standard protocol for data transfer.

In 2011, Quarq became a product line of SRAM. Since then, the Quarq power meter has been continuously developed and enhanced.

Each Quarq is now equipped with the latest features like Power Balance™ and OmniCal™, and a power meter has been developed for mountain bikes, the Quarq SRAM XX1. The latest model of the power meter, the Quarq SRAM Red 22 power meters has been perfectly adapted – aesthetically and functionally – to SRAM’s current top product lines.
