Garmin Vector 2 Power Meter

The Garmin Vector 2 power meter measures power where force is applied: at the pedal. It measures power directly and delivers reliable and accurate data. Because there is force sensors housed in each pedal, Vector gives you the unique ability to see right and left leg power independently.

Vector 2 measures the deflection in the pedal spindle as you pedal. That measured deflection is then compared to a factory-calibration, allowing Vector 2 to determine how much force you are applying to the pedal. This happens a few hundred times per second. Built-in accelerometers also measure your pedaling cadence. The force sensor and related electronics are permanently and securely sealed within the pedal spindle.

garmin_vetor_2Cycling Dynamics
Factors like fatigue, fitness, injury and recovery all affect the way you ride. Revolutionary new cycling dynamics lets you tailor your training around your specific weaknesses and strengths by showing you exactly where you're generating power throughout the pedal stroke. It also indicates where force is being applied on the pedal itself so you can ensure proper cleat position, as well as when and how long you were seated versus standing so you can gauge position effectiveness.

You can install the Vector 2 power meter yourself in minutes. There's no need for a mechanic and no downtime while your bike is in the shop. There are no complicated drive train tradeoffs and no external sensors need to be installed.

The Vector fits almost any bike. While the pedals are always the same, there are two different types of pedal pods available. The standard pedal pods are compatible with crank arms that are 12 - 15mm thick and up to 44mm wide. While the XL pedal pods also fit crank arms with a width of up to 44mm, they are compatible with thicker crank arms between 15 - 18mm. Please make sure to measure your crank arm's width and thickness before ordering.

so far, so good!

Affordable, easy to install, great accuracy, electronics stably housed in the pedals. Have tested it out during the holidays in France and have no complaints.

Recommended for 2-sided measurements

Out of curiosity, I tried out the simpler Vector 2S on my road bike in May and found it an absolute delight to use. Hungry for more, I've gone bought the double-sided version (my wife now uses the 2S ;-), the reason being, I used to play ice-hockey and thereby developed a bit of a left-right imbalance. The result: I am pleasantly surprised by the Vector 2's capability of detecting nuances, allowing me to adjust training to compensate any imbalances. A clear plus!

unbeatable power meter

The delivery came within 3 days of purchase and the installation was a piece of cake. Using it is great: the pedals are robust and everything is water-proof. After riding, I synchronise the measurements with my iPhone / Garmin Connect app, which makes for some very slick analytics, and allows me to really analyse/optimise my training. I have to say, the Garmin Vector really raises my cycling experience to another level#.

Detailed, accurate power measurements

Having tested out the new Garmin Vector all this summer, I'm really chuffed! On the road, exchanging between bikes is very easy (torque wrench, pedal adaptor). The measurements are accurate, tuned to both legs, allowing for precise performance tweaks. The analytics allow you to pace out your delivery during longer treks. You get a real sense of harmony between "man (or woman) and machine". Brilliant! As an experienced cyclist, I can confidently recommend Garmin Vector (2 or 2S) to others.

Quality pedal-based power meter.

Accurate power meter with a good concept. I find the price very good for this quality (compared with other pedal-based power meters). Mounting is easy as is shifting between bikes.
